The company set up its first Asian subsidiary in Japan, Chemetall Japan K.K. in 1994. In June 2012 the company was renamed to Rockwood Lithium Japan K.K. In November 2012 the office moved to the Akasaka district. In 2016 the brand name changed to Albemarle.
The company is operating with local inventory to service its customers and supplies its full product range directly to the Japanese high end specialty chemical market with the technical support of the Taiwan product unit of the Albemarle group.
With the potential for growth in lithium batteries for electric vehicles, Albemarle will be a reliable partner for Japan’s battery industries.
